MEASURES OF ASSISTANCE IN BRITAIN. ACTION BY GOVERNMENT WELCOMED. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, May 19. In the House of Commons, Colonel Colville, Secretary for Scotland, moved the second reading of the Herring Industry Bill, which gives a large measure of financial assistance to this industry. He declared that the Government intended to continue to assist the export trade and also to develop home consumption. The measure was welcomed in general by both sections of the Opposition and passed its second reading.
