ATTEMPTED SUICIDE CHARGE IN CHRISTCHURCH

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 20.

Jealousy so preyed on the mind of a young married man that he threw himself in front of an approaching tram yesterday morning. This was the the story told to Mr E. C. Levvey, S.M., this morning, when a young man whose name was suppressed appeared to answer a charge of attempted suicide. The man entered a plea of not guilty, and the case was held over until the Magistrate has considered the matter. Sub-In,spector Packer said the man had only been married for sixteen months, and became jealous. In a statement to the police he had said that he threw himself in such a way that the car would not go over him.
