THE VERBENA
LAYERING OF GROWTHS. The verbena can either be cut back and allowed to make fresh growth from the base, or if plenty of room is available the long growths can be layered down to extend the area covered. This is really the better plan, for when the younger plants get going the old plants can be dispensed with. When used for training ovex’ a lattice, the plants need only the old exhausted growths trimming out occasionally.
