STRAWBERRY CULTURE
POINTS TO BE CONSIDERED. For strawberry culture the best soil is a good heavy loam, inclined to be tenacious. The strawberries should be planted nine inches apart in the rows with'24 to 28 inches between the rows. Straw or litter should be placed around the plants when in flower and before the berries weight the flower stalks down. Small areas can be netted in, but with large areas bird scarers will be necessary. Blood and bone three parts, basic super three parts, sulphate of potash two parts, is the best artificial fertiliser. Apply at planting time and again when the first fruits are forming.
