SYSTEM OF EDUCATION
CRITICISM BY FARMERS “YOUNG PEOPLE RATHER AIMLESS” (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 19. Dissatisfaction with the present system of education in New Zealand was expressed by delegates to the Auckland provincial farmers' conference today, and after long discussion a motion was carried requesting the Government to appoint experts to bring about the results required. Expressing agreement with a suggestion that the fundamentals of music should be taught, Captain H. M. Rushworth, M.P., said that the requirements of the university appeared to be training young men and women to live by their wits at the expense of the public. Mr R. A. S. Brown criticised the ordinary parent for not giving sufficient encouragement in the home. Discussing the aim of youth, he said that, apart.from the social graces, in which they went the limit, the young people were rather aimless.
