BADMINTON
WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL MEETING. The arinual general meeting of the Wairarapa Badminton Association was held on May 5 when the following officers were elected for the present year:-—President, Mi’ J. K. Logan; Vice-president, Mr H. M. A. Major; secretary and treasurer, Mr E. K. Eastwood; executive committee, Messrs Maxwell, G. Simpson, M. Jones, P. Hawksworth and A. Handyside. . Arrangements for the match against the Australian team, to be played at the Regent Theatre, Masterton, on Wednesday, June 22 were discussed. This match is arousing much interest owing to the fact that this is the first Australian test team to' visit New Zealand. The game against Wairarapa will be the first of the tour. The match will be almost a test on account of the fact that P. Hawksworth is the present New Zealand champion and J. J. Payton one of the holders of the North Island men’s doubles championship. PALMERSTON NORTH TOURNEY WAIRARAPA TEAM The following players will represent the Association at the Palmerston North Association’s Tournament to be held on Saturday, May 28. Messrs Hawksworth, Payton, Lulham and Grant. Mrs Hawksworth, Misses B. and N. Payton and P. Kilmister. Reserves: O’Connor and Miss Stalker.
