SALE AT ADDINGTON AN EASING IN VALUES (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 18. Fat cattle and fat sheep were in over-supply at today’s Addington market and there was an easing for both —sheep to a slight extent and cattle by up to 15s a head. Store sheep: A small entry of about 3500, about half wethers, came forward. Wethers sold well at up to 22s 6d, but old ewes and lambs were not wanted. Fat lambs: A keen sale at up to full schedule rates of 8d a lb. Fat sheep: A total of 5500 was penned. There was an easing of about Is a head. Best wethers brought 30s to 335, tops to 355; good medium, 26s to 295; light, down to 19s; best ewes, 22s to 245; tops, to 28s; light, 13s to 15s. Fat cattle: A total of 595 was penned and good quality was included. Values were again easier by 2s a 1001 b. Best beef made 32s to 345; good, 29s to 31s; and light down to 245. Prime steers realised £l2 10s to £l4 10s; tops, to £l6 7s 6d; medium steers, down to £10; best cows and heifers, to £ll 7s 6d; gopd, £8 to £9 10s; secondary cows, £5 to £6 ss. Fat pigs: Good quality porkers sold well, other classes being easier. Prices were from 29s 6d to 59s 6d, an average a lb. of 6jd to 7d. Baconers were again forward in small numbers, and there was an advance in prices of from 2s to 3s a head. Prices ranged from £3 Is 6d to £5 7s 6d, an average price a lb. of 6Jd to 6Jd. Dairy cattle: A keen sale, good grade heifers at drop making in odd cases £lB 10s and £l7; medium cows, about £9. PRICES AT JOHNSONVILLE GOOD QUALITY SHEEP FIRM An average yarding of bullocks, with a large yarding of cows and a full yarding of all classes of sheep, came forward at the Johnsonville sale. With the exception of a 'few pens of heavy weight bullocks, the balance of the yarding consisted chiefly of medium weight cattle, with a fair proportion of light and unfinished bullocks. Quotations are as follows: — Prime extra heavy bullocks, £l5 10s to £l5 ss; prime heavy bullocks, £l5 5s to £l4 10s; heavy bullocks, £l4 5s to £l3; light and unfinished bullocks, £l2 10s to £ll ss; extra prime heavy cows and heifers, £lO to £9 2s; prime heavy cows and heifers, £9 to £8 15s; cows and calves to £3 2s; runners, £5 5s to £3 15s; vealers, £2 16s to £2 ss; calves, 25s to 15s. Prime extra heavy wethers, 31s 4d to 30s; prime heavy wethers, 29s 6d to 27s 6d; medium wethers, 26s lOd to 24s lOd; prime extra heavy ewes, 25s to 23s 6d; prime heavy ewes, 23s to 21s 8d; medium ewes, down to 17s; extra heavy lambs, 27s 6d to 26s 6d; heavy lambs, 25s 6d to 23 6d; medium lambs, 22s 6d to 18s; light lambs, 17s 6d to 17s 3d 3d. MASTERTON SALE SHEEP PRICES DECLINE. CATTLE VALUES IMPROVE. The N.Z. Farmers’ .Co-operative Distributing Co., Ltd., report as follows: — We offered good entries of fat and store sheep and a small yarding of cattle to a large attendance. There were no outside buyers present and there was a noticeable easing in sheep values. Fat sheep with the exception of extra prime heavy ewes were down 2s to 3s a head. Breeding ewes were not in such keen demand, ' but good w.f. wether lambs were firm at late rates. The cattle market showed a further slight improvement. We effected a complete clearance at the following prices:—Prime fat wethers, 26s 6d to 27s 6d; store cows, £2 17s 6d; 18-mths lighter, 25s to 25s lOd; Jersey steers, £3 19s; extra prime fat ewes, 24s to 25s 6d; prime, 20s 9d to 21s 6d; lighter, 16s 6d to 18s; small 2-th ewes r.w. Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report as follows: —We held our weekly sale in the Colombo Road yards yesterday when we offered a good yarding of sheep and cattle to a large attendance. Fat ewes were slightly easier while other sorts sold at late rates. Cattle sold well and we report a total clearance at the following prices:— Sheep: S.M. ewes, r.w. S.D. ram, 15s 6d to 225; fat ewes, 18s, 18s 9d, 20s to 225; forward ewes, 15s 6d to 17s; store evzes, 8s to Us 6d; ewe lambs, 19s to 24s Id; shorn wether lambs, 14s 6d to 17s 3d; 2-th wethers, to 265; small b.f. lambs, to 13s 7d; fat b.f. 2-ths., to 26s 6d. Cattle: Fat bullocks, to £l2 15s; 3yr. steers, to £8 16s; fat cows, £8 10s to £9; fat heifers, to £5 10s; P.A. cows in calf, to £4 12s 6d; fat Jersey cows, to £4 10s. Pigs: Weaners, 8s 6d to 10s 6d; slips, 11s 6d to 13s. DALGETY & CO. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on their weekly Masterton sale as follows: —A medium yarding of all classes of sheep came forward and met a keen sale from a large attendance. The yarding of fats was heavy and values remained firm on last sale. Hoggets were in demand and any showing quality made good values. We report:—Heavy forward ewes/ 24s 7d; light fat ewes, 18s to 20s; light fat wethers, 245, 24s 3d to 255; failing mouthed ewes, r.w. S.D., 20s to 20s 9d; small cull hoggets, 9s, 9s 6d, 9s 9d to 10s 6d; good woolly w.f.w. hoggets, 17s. , N.Z. LOAN & MERCANTILE CO. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report having held their weekly sale when a fair yarding of sheep was submitted to a good attendance of the local public. Fat sheep were available in greater numbers than has been the case at recent sales, and prices, as a result, were slightly easier. Store sheep met with quite a good sale at values on a par with late rates. They quote:—S.M. ewes, r.w. S.D., 18s Id; store ewes, 12s to 9s 3d; medium shorn w.f. lambs, 13s ,4d; i.medium shorn woolly ■ lambs, 14s; small ewe lambs, 22s 4d; cull b.f. lambs, 9s lOd; cull shorn wr. lambs, 7s 3d; light fat wethers, 24s 2d to 255; fat b.f. 2-ths., 21s; prime fat woolly w.f. lambs, 30s.
