The Wairarapa Hockey Referees’ Association held a meeting in Masterton last evening. Mr Harding (president) was in the chair. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs S. Burnip, G. Maloney and T. McCaffrey. One now member was enrolled. Complaints were received from members with reference to the grounds. In several cases grounds were not marked out, while line flags were not provided with the result that referees found it difficult to control games. It was decided to write the Hockey Association drawing its attention to these matters.

A complaint was also received with reference to the conditions of some sticks used last week. It was decided that in future any stick not complying with the rules will be barred from use. The Hockey Association is to be asked to assist the referees in enforcing the starting time limits. It was decided to recommend that the starting times as drawn up should be strictly adhered to.,

It was decided to forward to the Wairarapa Hockey Association the names of.the Wairarapa New Zealand Badge holders, Messrs Burnip and Stubbings, who are available for the Wairarapa-Indian match in Masterton. The new rules introduced to women’s hockey were discussed and explained. The meeting was opened for general discussions and rulings were debated and explained by the examiners. The next meeting will be held in Greytown. A vote of thanks to Mr and Mrs Stubbings was carried by acclamation. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the chairman.
