GOLF CLUB COMPETITIONS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The weekly golf competition played on Saturday afternoon by members of the Te Wharau Club was won by M. Paku with a net score of 65. H. Paku and J. Bannister halved for second place with 66. Miss P. Schofield handed in the best card for the ladies, a 66, and Mrs Foreman’s 67 was next. These scores count for the President’s Trophy for men and for Miss Schofield’s trophy for the ladies. The following is the draw for next Saturday:— Men. —Cotter v Foreman; W. Kummer v Gray; N. Kummer v Winter; Nitz v Vennell; H. Paku v Schofield; A. McGregor v M. Paku; R. Bannister v R. McKinstry; F. McKinstry v J. Bannister; P. Kummer v T. Weston.

Mrs Foreman withstood a Kummerstein Cup challenge from Mrs Nitz and A. McGregor defeated H. Winter in a Nimmo Cup challenge. Next playing day Mrs Foreman meets Miss Bannister and A. McGregor plays M. Paku. The first day’s play of the first round of the children’s competition was held on Thursday afternoon. Frank Cotter with a net score of 71 handed in the best card for the day,- the next being Gwen Nitz, Elfie Bannister and Alex Bannister with a net score of 75 each. The end of the first round will be played on Thursday afternoon next, the following being the draw: —F. Cotter v G. Nitz; J. Cotter v B. McGregor; A. Bannister v J. McGregor; P. Schofield v H. Winter; E. Bannister v L. Winter. A prize will be presented to the winners of each round. On May 22 the annual inter-club match with Wharemouku Club will be played on the local links, commencing at 10 o’clock. DANCE. A very enjoyable dance was held in the hall on Saturday evening and although the attendance was not as large as could have been desired owing to several counter-attractions, a very pleasant evening was spent. The Monte Carlo dance was won by Mrs J. Bannister and Mr F. Cotter and the statue waltz was won by Mrs Stevenson and Mr F. Cotter. The music was supplied by Mrs J. Bannister and Mr R. McKinstry and supper was served by the ladies.
