SULTAN’S DIVORCE

PROCEDURE IN JOHORE The divorce, under Moslem law, of the Sultan of Johore, and his wife, who was formerly Miss Helen Wilson, has been confirmed by an enactment which is to be submitted to the State Council on April 5, “irrevocably dissolving the marriage according to the law of Johore.” There will be no proceedings under British law. A Moslem divorce was achieved simply by the Sultan saying once before witnesses, “Talak,” meaning “I divorce.”

The Sultan of Johore was married to Mrs Wilson in 1930.
