OBITUARY. (“Times-Age” Special.) The death occurred at Wellington at an early hour on Sunday morning of Terence, only son of Mr and Mrs N. Taylor, aged 21. He had been ill for the past few months. Much sympathy is felt for the family, who are old residents of the district. K GOLF. The Featherston Golf Club played the first round of a stableford competition (Mr Laing’s trophy) on Saturday. Results are as follow: —H. Wehipeihana, 27-5-32 —3 points; I. Donald, 13-17-30 —2 points; J. B. Davis', 13-15-28, i point; H. Pendegrast, 12-16-28, J point; D. Carlyon, 10-18-28, j point; M. The gathering welcomed back the Featherston members who represented the branch at the Sydney Anzac parade. Messrs A. Robbins, W. J. Fellingham and L. Lambess gave an interesting account of their trip and paid tribute to the hospitality accorded them by the Australians. Some 30,000 Diggers were on parade, including 1800 Npw Zealanders, of whom 500 are resident in Australia. At least a quarter of a million spectators viewed the proceedings. The solemnity of the dawn parade at 4 a.m. was stressed. The dim lights in the streets and the marching men reminded them of the picture of “the phantom army.” Microphones along the pavements carried the sound of the marching feet all over the world. The New Zealanders came off the boats in columns of four, later joining up and being joined by the resident New Zealanders, marching along in a column of twelve.

The representatives described their sight-seeing and the many places of interest visited. .Musical items were given by Messrs K. Allen, J. W. Holland and I. Gordon. Mr Holland led community singing of popular war choruses. Mr J. Buck presided at the piano. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Messrs Holland and Buck for their assistance. PERSONAL. Mrs Jakeie, who is visiting her sister, Miss Belle Curry, has just returned by the Monterey from a world tour.
