FLOOD RELIEF

WAIRARAPA APPEAL MAKING GOOD HEADWAY. MEETING IN EKETAHUNA. Splendid progress is being made in the organisation of the monster ball to be held in Masterton on May 24 in aid of the flood sufferers in Hawke’s Bay. Enthusiastic support is being given in all parts of the district. A well-attended meeting was held in Eketahuna during the weekend to discuss ways and means of disposing of tickets for the ball. An energetic committee was formed under the chairwornanship of Mrs Hooper. The secretarial work was undertaken by Mrs Macky.

Several of those present immediately gave a lead by purchasing tickets in bulk. Further donations have been received by the Masterton Committee. Miss Watt, of Bannister Street, is supplying the helpers for the kitchen and also all the waitresses required for the supper room. The Masterton and Mauriceville Dairy Companies are donating butter. The Masterton Printing Company has given a donation of posters. The committee again stresses the point that the ball is only a means to an end. The real purpose of this public appeal is donations to the flood sufferers in Hawke's Bay. Each ticket purchased represents a donation of ss, so that the public (dancers or otherwise) may show their sympathy by purchasing tickets in any quantity.
