FEILDING SALE

PRICES FIRM ON RECENT RATES PRIME QUALITY SHEEP SELL WELL (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, May 13. A moderate yarding of from good to. fair quality stock brought about a sustained demand at the Feilding sale today, with prices very firm on recent rates. Some prime quality ewes and wethers sold well. Despite fairly heavy supply, lambs likewise kept at a good level. Little change was seen in the store sheep pens, where lambs made up the bulk of the entry, together with some breeding ewes. Run cattle of quality again came in for keen demand, but for fat cattle, of which the quality generally was not as good as last week, prices were easier. Realisations were: —

Fat sheep: Primest wethers 27s Id to 28s 2d, second grade, 26s 8d to 26s 9d, medium sorts 24s 8d to 25s 2d; b.f. twotooths, best 26s 6d to 27s 4d, light 245; prime heavy lambs 24s 6d to 25s 9d, medium prime 22s to 23s 6d; average sorts . 203 to 21s 9d; others from 18s Id; best heavy ewes, 27s 4d, medium prime 22s to 23s 9d, light 21s 6d, unfinished 15s 3d to 18s lOd.

Store sheep: Wether lambs, best 16s 8d to 17s 9d, others 15s to 15s lOd; ewes, good 255, small 10s 6d to 17s 8d; b.f., 13s lOd to 15s 6d; culls, 7s 6d; four and five-year ewes, r.w. S.D. rams, 235; fattening ewes, 10s to Ils 9d; two-tooth wethers, 19s to 23s Bd. Dairy cattle: Spring heifers, best £7 to £9 10s, others £4 5s to £6; springing cows, £7 ss. Store dattle: Forward three-year P.A. bullocks, £9 to £9 ss; 2J-year Hereford steers, £5 17s 6d; 20-month P.A. steers, £5 17s to £6 17s; weaner P.A. steers, large £3 6s to £4 3s, smaller £2 2s Gd to £2 7s 6d; P.A. cows £2 8s 6d to £3 9s; Hereford, £3 9s; heifers, r.w.b., £3 11s; two-year heifers, £4 Is; weaner Jerseys, £2 2s 6d to £2 17s Gd; cows and calves, £3; boner cows, heavy £3 18s to£4, others £1 12s 6d to £3 19s; potter bulls, £3 to £6 ss. Fat cattle: Light heifers, £4 5s to £6 6s; P.A. cows, £7 7s 6d to £8; ex dairy, £5 10s to £5 15s; light steers, £5 2s Gd.
