WELL-ATTENDED ANNUAL MEETING. TRIBUTE PAID TO RETIRING CHAIRMAN. More than 100 members attended the annual meeting of the Wairarapa Returned Soldiers’ Association held in Masterton last night. The president, Mr H. Brass, presided. Mr J. H. Irving, who did not seek re-election, said that the Returned Soldiers’ Association was one of the greatest organisations he had ever been associated with. He referred to the wonderful brotherhood existing between the “diggers" of Australia and New Zealand. Mr Irving expressed regret at his giving up the chairmanship of the association, and thanked all for tlie way they had co-op-erated with him during his term of office. On behalf of the association, Mr Brass paid a tribute to Mr Irving's work as chairman. “I should like to put on record our appreciation of Mr Irving’s services," said Mr Brass. “In losing him we are losing a very good man." The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Chairman, Mr H. Brass; vice-chairman, Mr R. Whyborn; hon. treasurer, Mr L. S. Nicol; hon. secretary, Mr A. E. Prentice; executive committee, Messrs W. J. White, A. G. Wallis. H. G. Alexander, C. A. Gray, A. L. Bennett and D. M. Pollock; auditor, Mr N. H. James.
