INTER CLUB GOLF MATCH. (“Times-Age” Special). The first inter-club match of the season was played on the links over the weekend and resulted in a win for the home club which defeated a strong team from Bideford. The visitors won 14 games,, lost 21 games, while 3 games were halved. The following are the detailed results, Bideford players being mentioned first in each instance: — Men’s four-ball: C. Percy and G. Falloon lost to H. Paku and E. Nitz; C. Torr and T. Falloon all square with N. Kummer and M. Paku; E. Wrigley and H. Bell defeated W. Kummer and R. Bannister; R. Falloon and M. O’Keefe lost to N. Foreman and S. Gray; A. Donald and R. Cunningham lost to C. Schofield and J. Bannister; H. Hill and G. Joy defeated I. McGregor and H. Winter; A. Kerr and G. McKay halved with F. Cotte and A. McGregor. Ladies’ four-ball: Miss Rutherford and Miss J. Wrigley beat Mrs Nitz and Miss M. Taylor; Mrs C. Percy and Mrs Nicholls lost to Miss Taylor and Mrs Foreman; Miss Falloon and Mrs Bell lost to Miss Schofield and Mrs Schofield; Mrs Wrigley and Miss Oliphant lost to Mrs Read and Mrs McGregor; Mrs McKay and Mrs A. Miss Bannister; Mrs McKinstry v. Miss Schofield. Mrs Foreman and Mrs Nitz play a Kummerstein Cup challenge match.
Men: N. Foreman v. R. McKinstry; S. Gray v. F. Cotter; A. McGregor v. H. Winter; W. Kummer v. P. Kummer; N. Kummer v. E. Nitz; R. Vennell v. H. Paku; C. Schofield v. M. Paku; R. Bannister v. J. Bannister; T. Weston v. F. McKinstry. H. Winter and A. McGregor play a Nimmo Cup challenge match. The first challenge for the Kummerstein Cup was played on Saturday when Mrs Foreman defeated Miss Vennell (holders). H. Winter defeated W. Kummer in a Nimmo Cup challenge.
On Thursday afternoon next the first round of the children’s competition will be played for the McGregor Cup, commencing at 1 o’clock sharp. The draw will take place at the clubhouse, and afternoon tea will be provided by the ladies.
