HAILE SELASSIE

LENGTHY DOCUMENT LAID BEFORE LEAGUE SAYS COUNTRY IS FAR FROM CONQUERED (Recd This Day, 1.45 p.m.) LONDON, May 8. On the eve of the League Council meeting at which Abyssinia will be one of the most difficult problems, Haile Selassie has published a lengthy document, based on despatches from secret Abyssinian sources, asserting that the country is far from conquered. Throughout the west, north and southwest, the greater part of Abyssinia is still under Abyssinian chiefs and resistance at present is more intensive and effective than at any time since the autumn of 1936.
