DIVIDEND DECLARED
NORTH WAIRARAPA BUILDING SOCIETY. The North Wairarapa Permanent Building and Investment Society (Inc.) of Masterton has declared a final dividend for the half-year to the March 31, 1938, at the rate of 6 per cent per annum payable on May 26, 1938. An interim dividend was paid at the rate of 5 per cent, per annum thus making an unchanged rate for the year of 5J per cent per annum. During the year a further 19 loans Were granted amounting to £8,691. Loans on First Mortgage now total £27,605 10s Id, while progress payments not yet due for payment amount to £2,375. Share capital showed a further increase of £2,066 in “A” Capital shares and £3lB in “B” investment shares. Deposits with the Society at 3J and 4 per cent interest remains unaltered at £1,760. The profit and loss account shows a very satisfactory increase on the previous year. A gratifying feature of the accounts is that for the sixth year in succession there are no repayments outstanding nor interest owing on any of the 70 loans granted by the Society.
A catch of 156 snapper in two hours was made by a party of six Cambridge fishermen who visited Kawhia during a recent weekend. This is 'the best catch 'of the season for a boat inside Kawhia Heads. The first hundred fish were caught within one hour. The fish were in fine condition and the majority of the catch ranged from 51b to 121 b.
