MEETING THAT LAPSED

THE CRIPPLED CHILDREN SOCIETY. Sir, —Could you through your columns rouse us from the lethargic attitude so evident in Masterton? On Wednesday of this week, the annual meeting of the Crippled Children Society should have been held at 3 p.m. Apart from executive members, the whole public of the Wairarapa was represented by two ladies, both of whom have always taken the keenest interest. If this fairly indicates the usefulness of the society in the district, then it is time operations ceased. If, on the other hand, laziness was the reason for non-attendance, then there is hope, because you may be able to hit hard enough to make some impression. The meeting was adjourned until Tuesday the 17th instant at 7.30 p.m. when it is to be hoped a little more interest will be taken in the work of the society. — Yours etc., E. M. HODDER. Masterton, May 6.
