COLONEL HONOURED

REGIMENTAL DINNER-GIVEN AT WANGANUI. MAJOR HANCOX ASSUMES COMMAND. Colonel W. S. McCrorie, E.D., was the guest of honour at a regimental dinner given by his brother officers at a gathering held in Wanganui last week, over which Major G. G. Hancox, E.D., of Masterton, presided. There was an attendance of about fifty. Colonel McCrorie is retiring from the command of the West Coast Regiment, a post which has been taken over by Major Hancox. The toast of “The Commanding Officer” was proposed by Colonel J. RCade, M.C., E.D., who made reference to the military career of the guest of

the evening. Colonel McCrorie thanked Colonel Cade for his remarks, and said that he would always treasure the many years’ association with the in which so ■ many friendships had been made. ‘T am sure that in handing over to Major Hancox,, no effort will be spared in the future to carry on in the old tradition, and also to lift the regiment to a higher state of efficiency and to attract more men to its ranks.”

Colonel McCrorie presented to Major Hancox a shamrock which - was sent out by the commanding officer of the Royal Irish Regiment and which is handed from one commanding officer of the West Coast Regiment to the other.
