FEATHERSTON
CHORAL SOCIETY. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Featherston Choral Society held a social evening in the Parish Hall on Wednesday. Owing to the inclemency of the weather many members could not attend. The programme consisted of gramophone selections of “Merrie England,” and songs and duets by members of the Society. A tasty supper was served at the conclusion of the programme. FESTIVAL AT ST. JOHN’S CHURCH. St. John’s Church held its patronal festival service last night. The Rev E. J. Rich (Masterton) was the preacher. The choir, which was augmented by members of the churches in the Wairarapa, sang the Anthem, “The Radiant Morn” (Woodward). After the service supper- was provided. GOLF CLUB. The ladies played a Stableford bogey competition on Wednesday afternoon at Gumgrove. The winners were: A grade Miss M. Ruane; B grade, Mrs Lovegrove. QUERY CLUB. ’ The Query Club held its weekly meeting last night. The attendance was good. Amusing competitions, games and community singing were enjoyed. After supper a discussion on future plans took place. CARD TOURNAMENT. South Featherston residents held their dance and card tournament last night. There was a good attendance. The winners were as follows: —Ladies, Mrs R. Fuge 1; Mrs A. Gain 2; Men, Mr Thurston 1; Mr J. Rewai 2; Monte Carlo, Miss J. Brash and Mrs B. Barnard 1, Mr and Mrs F. Burt 2. / HAUNUI CROQUET CLUB. At the annual meeting of the Haunui Croquet Club the following officelaearers were elected: —Patroness, Mrs Riddiford (re-elected)j_ president, Miss Eva Card; vice-presidents, Miss H. Card, Mrs Wakeley, Mrs Barry and Mrs Watson; secretary, Miss Nix (reelected); treasurer, Mrs K. Donald; captain, Miss Esma'Card (re-elected); vice-captain, Mrs Watson.
