GREYTOWN
MR W. H. DAY FAREWELLED. (“Times-Age” Special). At St. Luke’s Schoolroom on Wednesday night a farewell social was tendered to Mr W. H. Day, who intends to pay a visit to England. In making a presentation to Mr Day, Canon J. H. Sykes said that Mr Day had acted as vestryman and secretary, and in addition had been a supporter of the choir for 45 or 50 years.. The work he had done and was still doing was a credit to him. Mr Day, in his reply said that he would leave Wellington on May 11 and hoped to sail on his return trip in September next. CONSTABLE GREGOR’S ILLNESS. At the monthly sitting of the Greytown Magistrate’s’ Court, Mr J. F. Thompson on behalf of the legal profession expressed regret at the illness of the Clerk of the Court, Constable Gregor, and wished him a speedy recovery. .Mr H. P. Lawry,-S.M., said he would see that the sentiments expressed were conveyed 'to Constable Gregor. FOOTBALL TEAMS (“Times-Age” Special) The following will represent the Greytown Seniors against Old Boys at Masterton tomorrow. Players are asked to assemble at the Working Men’s Club at 1 p.m.:—Bond, Hume (2), Brunton (2), Clark, Heinz, Bragins, Parker, Stringfellow, Maddison, Gaudin, Gaylor, Skeet, Hood, Fluty, Nix. The Greytown Juniors to play Masterton at Greytown will be: —McKenna, Faulkner, Galey, Humphries, McHardy, Workman, Playle, Leeks, Fuge, Carter, Smith, Barney, Fenwick, Te Whaiti, Flood. HOCKEY The following will represent the Greytown boys against Dalefield at Carterton tomorrow: —P. Skeet, Trotman, Anker, Day, Hiscox, Harris (2), Rees, Hay, Dennes, Keltie, F. Skeet. The boys will make their own travelling arrangements.
