CARTERTON

MEETING OF BAND. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was an attendance of sixteen at the annual meeting of the Carterton band. No officers, except the secretary (Mr T. Ray), were elected at the meeting, but the appointments will be made later. » In view of the possibility of employment being found for a conductor it was decided to arrange a round table conference between the band committee and the Borough Council. In the meantime Mr J. L. Harris has consented to fill the position of conductor. An emphatic denial was given to a statement made at the Carterton borough council meeting that the Band was to all intents and purposes defunct. It was mentioned that as long as there were six members of the Band it could not become defunct, and further, that there was no authority for the Borough Council to call in the instruments.
