MAURICEVILLE
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. (“Times-Age” Special.) As Tuesday afternoon was wet and cold the Women’s Institute held its monthly meeting at the home of Mrs A. Forsberg, Mauriceville West. The drawing-room was decorated with lovely autumn flowers and a bright log fire helped to make the atmosphere cheerful. Mrs H. Freeman presided over a good attendance. ’ Two new members were enrolled. A report of the Federation meeting held at Carterton was read. An amusing drawing competition was won by Mrs J. Duncan, Miss A. McGovern being second. A demonstration of faggoting given by Mrs I. D. Cameron was watched with much interest. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs Forsberg, Mrs Neilson and Miss J. Larson. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Forsberg and Mrs Cameron. PERSONAL. Mr D. J. Freeman, of the staff of the Mauriceville Dairy Factory, will leave on Saturday to take a course at Massey College. Mr E. J. Smart, who has been a member of the Mauriceville Dairy Factory for the past two years, has accepted a position with N.Z. Railways. Mr and Mrs Alex Urquhart, who are the guests of Mr J. McGovern, will leave on Saturday for Wellington where they intend to reside.
