BOROUGH RATES

POSSIBILITY OF INCREASE SUGGESTED. STATEMENT BY MAYOR. “If any member of this audience can show mo the trick to reduce rates there is a statue waiting for him,” remarked the Mayor, Mr T. Jordan, when addressing Masterton electors last night. No one, he added, had been more zealous than he had in finding additional sources of revenue for the Borough. At the same time he believed that the rates would increase still more. He did not mind that, however, provided they were getting something for it.
