FARMERS’ UNION

WOMEN’S DIVISION. MEETING IN MASTERTON. The monthly meeting of the Masterton Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held on Wednesday afternoon in their rooms in King Street. There were present Mrs K. Groves (president), and the following members of the committee: Mesdames Barrer, Burling, Cottle, Donald (2), Engstrom, Gawith, lorns, Jackson, McLean, Pike, Roff, Rue and Miss Jessie McKenzie (secretary), and a good attendance of members.

Mrs Howard, late of the Mauriceville branch, was accorded a very hearty welcome to the Division as a new member.

It was decided to donate £2 2s to be used .exclusively for Maori school children residing in the. Masterton Distrist who are taking a cadet course in the St. John Ambulance Brigade. Mrs C. C. Jackson, Secretary of the inter-Provincial Council, advised the meeting that a conference would be held in Palmerston North on May 27, and that the branch was privileged to send delegates if it so desired.

Mesdames Alex Donald, and Engstrom were appointed delegates to the annual conference to be held at Wellington on July 12. It was decided to donate 5s to the Master ton branch of the League of Nations.?

■ Mes;dames Boddington, Cottle and Stewart were appointed hostesses for the next monthly meeting. A very dainty afternoon tea was served, and was much appreciated by those present.
