PRICE ADVANCE
AT SYDNEY WOOL SALES SYDNEY, May 5. The wool sales series closed with a very strong general demand for all descriptions at full late rates. The market now shows an all-round advance of from 5 to 7| per cent compared with the rates before Easter. Greasy merino made to 21jd. The average price of wool for the first three days of this week was £l3 8s Id a bale, or 10s 4d. a pound. LONDON SALES Messrs Dalgety and Company Limited report the following vessels in which we are interested have arrived in time for the London wool sales: — Matakana, Surrey, Rangitiki, Cornwall, Waiwera, Akaroa, Zealandic, Port Auckland, Durham. The sales close on May 20. We expect a firm market, and that if any change in prices takes place, it will be in favour of sellers.
