GOLF COMPETITION. (“Times-Age” Special.) The best scores in the bogey competition played at the weekend were as follow; — Wilson, ail square; Page, all square; J. Dickson, 5 down; Richardson, 8 down; Tuckett, 4 down; McGregor, 2 down; R. Payne, 3 down; Duffill, 2 down; Quinlivan, 4 down; Higginson, 5 down; Bouzaid, 6 down; Simmers, 6 down; Mount joy, 8 down; Murray, 6 down; Dickson, Senr., 5 down. METHODIST CHURCH. The indiction ceremony in connection with the Eketahuna Methodist Church was attended by a large number of local residents. The service was conducted by the Rev. F. Parker. Speeches of welcome were made by the Rev. F. Parker, Masterton; the Rev. Moore, Pahiatua; the Rev. Ives, on behalf of the Anglican Church; Mr A. H. Herbert; Mr Harold Baillie and Mr J. F. Baillie. Mrs Gallagher, on behalf of the Ladies’ Guild, extended a welcome to Mrs and Miss Keal, they also being the recipients of bouquets presented by Miss June McLellan.
Vocal items were given by Mrs Fox and Misses Muriel Smith and June McLellan. CRICKET SOCIAL. On Saturday night a social was held to wind up the season in connection with the Bush Cricket clubs. Mr Ralph (Mangamaire) occupied the chair, and the following toast list was honoured: —“The King;” “Eketahuna Club,” winners of the championship (Mr C. C. Smyth—Mr R. McGregor); “the Bush Association” (Mr Bert Wilson —Mr Smyth); “Kindred Sports” (Mr C. Kendall—Mr G. Lyall); “Donors of Trophies” (Mr E. M. Broughton—Mr W. Cobb); “Other Clubs”.(Mr E. Watson —Mr D. Comrie); “The Secretaries” (Mr E. Matson —Messrs Pat Kendall and E. M. Broughton); “The Ladies” (Mr D. Comrie —Mr J. Me-’ Kay); “The Press.” The Tui Brewery Cup was presented to the Eketahuna Club by Mr C. C. Smyth.
