CARTERTON

SUCCESSFUL BALL. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual ball of the W.D.F.U. and the Y.F.C. was held in the King’s 1 Theatre on Monday night and was a most successful affair. At an interval in the dancing Mr S. Fisher, chairman of the Carterton Young Farmers’ Club, introduced Mr W. F. McLaren, Dominion President of the Young Farmers’ Clubs. Mr McLaren extended, on behalf of those present, a welcome home to the two Carterton members, Messrs A. Fisher and H. McKenzie, who toured Australia. Mrs E. W. Allen, President of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, also referred to the visit, after which Messrs McKenzie and Fisher briefly replied. NO ELECTION. There will be no election in the Dalefield Riding of the Wairarapa South County Council, as one of the .sitting members, Mr F. Brazendale, Matarawa, has retired. Messrs F. Court and L. S. Gallon are therefore elected unopposed.
