CONTROL OF EDUCATION
UNIFICATION PROPOSED. WAIRARAPA RESOLUTION. At the last meeting, members of the Wairarapa College Board of Governors briefly considered the question of representation on the proposed new Wellington Education Board and it was resolved that a postal ballot be taken on the matter. Accordingly, the following resolution has been forwarded to each member for consideration and voting: Believing that unification of representation of primary and secondary interests on the proposed new Education Board is desirable to co-ordin-ate primary and secondary education in the interests of the pupils, to give better and more economical administration by a properly elected and democratic board and to ensure that members of the proposed board shall be representative of each aspect of education and enlarge their scope in both primary and secondary activities we recommend: “That the Bill be amended to provide that the secondary schools’ representatives in the outer areas shall also represent the various primary schools in the borough or district in which the secondary school is situated and, where necessary, such other adjacent country schools as shall equalise, as near as possible, the school population with adjoining rural areas.”
