FOUNDATIONS OF HEALTH.

a time when increasingly earnest attention and effort are being directed to elevating standards of health and welfare in the community, there should be no doubt of. an adequate and worthy response to the appeal about to be made by the Blanket Society for an increased membership. The period of the appeal centres on May 14 next, the thirty-first anniversary of the foundation of the society in Dunedin by the late Sir Trilby King and Lady King. Following on the launching of the campaign by her Excellency Lady Galway, on the evening of Saturday next, the story of what the society has accomplished in thirty-one years of wonderfully successful effort will be told in broadcast addresses and in other ways. Much of what the society has achieved, not only in saving infant lives, but in laying the foundations of better health throughout the community, is already familiarly known. It needs to be recognised as widely as possible, however, that patient and continued effort are essential if these achievements are to be extended and built upon. 'Phis implies, amongst other things, constant ami generous support of the society by the public: That support ednnot be given better than by joining the membership of the society. A big membership will strengthen the society and enable the all-important work to which it is dedicated to be carried on and extended with full vigour. .Lt will at the same time facilitate an increasing co-ordination and co-operation with various other bodies which are working, each in its own field, to promote health and welfare.
