MOTHER’S DAY

OBSERVANCE NEXT SUNDAY. NOTABLE SHOP DISPLAYS. The favour which Mother’s Day, to be observed next Sunday, has found in the hearts of people is already reflected in the displays being made in the shops of Masterton. Window and interior displays gaily feature suitable gifts for mother. It is all a further reminder of the growing importance of Mother’s Day. as a day of national importance to New Zealand. But New Zealand is not alone in preparing for its special celebration of next Sunday. Mother's Day services will then be held all over the world and Mother's Day gifts will be bought all over the world this week. Every year the organisation and the sentiment of Mother's Day grows in worldwide importance. Little did Mary Towles Sasseen, the young Ohio schoolteacher, dream what a wide movement would develop from the first observance of Mother's Day, at her instance, more than 50 years ago.
