MARTINBOROUGH

BADMINTON CLUB. (“Times-Age” Special.) The badminton season was opened last night, there being an attendance of about fifty members. In the absence of Mr G. Simpson, the club captain, Mr Arthur Beveridge, officially opened the courts. Mr Beveridge extended a welcome to all new members and called upon Mrs Geo. Payne, the club’s president, to hit the first shuttlecock over the net. Games were played during the evening, and supper was served. PERSONAL. Mrs F. West and her daughter, of Makuri, are visiting Mr and Mrs S. Holland.
