GOLF ACTIVITIES. After a continued spell of wet weather golf was resumed on Saturday and continued during the week-end. Good cards were handed in by H. Paku, M. Paku and W. Kummer. In the ladies’ section all players are showing an improvement on last season's play. In the Nimmo cup challenge H. Winter defeated S. Gray. Winter also defeated N. Foreman on the following day in a similar challenge. The holders of the Buttons, Miss Lucas and N. Kummer, withstood a challenge from Mrs Schofield and S. Gray. Next Saturday a stroke competition will be held and in view of the interclub match with Bideford the following day players are requested to obtain as much practice as possible, as the team to play Bideford will be selected after play. The following is the draw:Men, Grey v Foreman; Winter v W. Kummer; F. McKinstry v E. Nitz; Cotter v P. Kummer; N. Kummer v H. Paku; R. Vennell v M. Paku; Schofield'v R. McKinstry; A. McGregor v J. Bannister; R. Bannister v Weston. H. Winter and W. Kummer will play a Nimmo Cup challenge. Ladies: Mrs Lucas v Miss M. Taylor; Mrs R. Bannister v Mrs McKinstry; Mrs Foreman v ; Miss Vennell v Miss McGregor; Miss Buckridge v ; Mrs J. Bannister v Miss Taylor; Mrs McGregor v Miss Dickason; Mrs Kummer v Miss Bannister; Mrs Nitz v Mrs Schofield; Mrs Read v Miss Schofield. Mrs Foreman and Miss Vennell play a Kummerstein Cup challenge. It has been decided that the conditions in connection with the Kummerstein Cup for ladies be the same as for the Nimmo Cup. The date for the closing of entries for challenges has been fixed for May 8, and the first challenge will be played on Saturday. During the school holidays, which will commence this ( week, the children’s competition for the McGregor Cup will be commenced, and the first round will be played on Thursday, May 12, and the second round on Thursday, May 19. The rounds will be continued during the September holidays when the final will be decided.
