JURY FINDS TRUE BILLS
IN DUNEDIN CRIMINAL CASES. DUNEDIN, May 2.
The criminal sittings of the Supreme Court commenced this morning before Mr Justice Kennedy. The Grand Jury found true bills in all four trial cases.
The first case that is being heard is against Leonard Chalmers Young, who faces six charges of theft arising from the sale of bonds of a theatre company the property of Eva Weddell and Lumsden Kent Ball.
Accused pleaded not guilty. The Crown Prosecutor produced a statement of bank withdrawals in the name of the Metropolitan Theatre Company of fifteen cheques dealing with money belonging to Mrs Weddell and Mr Ball, claiming that accused was acting for the company which handled their debentures and so had committed theft.
