R. Nicol, Dixon, Butler, Bradley, Kennedy, Stains, M. Nicol and Emerson. Complete satisfaction was expressed with the progress made and hearty votes of thanks were passed to the secretary and the treasurer. PROPOSAL AT WEST. COMMITTEE TO CONSIDER. A proposal to form a parents’ association for the West School was favourably received when it was put forward at the annual meeting of householdersTast night. The headmaster, Mr W. T. Armstrong, pointed out that the provision of a shed to accommodate lawn mowers, old desks, etc., a school library and the installation of radio were desirable. “Every school.” he said, “should have its own library.” Mr F. Grigg suggested that a parents’ association should be formed and if that were done it could assist in raising funds for any worthy objects such as those mentioned by the headmaster.

Mr Armstrong strongly supported the suggestion, observing that the teachers welcomed every opportunity of meeting the parents. Such an association would be invaluable in sponsoring entertainments at the school for the purpose of raising funds. Mr F. Shearer (chairman) pointed out that some time ago the committee had considered the formation of a parents’ association but the matter had not been proceeded with. A recommendation was made that the incoming committee go into the matter of forming a parents’ association.
