Mr Faulknder, of Christchurch, is visiting Masterton. Mr and Mrs C.' C. Ross, of Lansdowne, left today for Auckland. Mr J. Gabbitt, of Wellington, was a weekend visitor to Masterton. The Hon Adam Hamilton, Leader of the Opposition, arrived at Wellington on Saturday morning by the steamer express from Lyttelton. ’ Mr A. McQuade, of Norsewood, is at present visiting Masterton, and is staying with his son. Mr C. McQuade, Villa Street. He is on his way home after a tour of the South Island. In his earlier days he was interested in gold-mining at Maerewhenua. District traffic manager of railways at Wellington for the past six years, Mr W. S. Schierning has completed 40 years’ service with the department. He retired on superannuation at the end of last week, and his successor is Mr W. A. Woodger, assistant district traffic manager, Auckland, and formerly on the railway staff at Masterton. Mr and Mrs T. 11. Lowry, of Okawa, and Miss H. Coleman left Hawke’s Bay on Saturday en route to England and America. Mrs Lowry, Dominion president of the Red Cross Society, is the New Zealand delegate at the forthcoming international Red Cross conference to be held in London in June. Delegates to the conference will be presented to their Majesties at Buckingham Palace. Mr and Mrs Lowry expect to return home in September.
