WAIRARAPA CLUB’S RACE. A WIN FOR WOOLLETT. Saturday’s race from Second Street to Mt. Bruce School and return resulted in K. Woollett (45sec.) winning, and also establishing the fastest time. B. Harman, off the 1.45 mark, was second, and J. Brader, off 2.10, third. A head wind on the outward journey made conditions very trying for competitors. The 45sec. men, Woollett and Dykes, caught the leading bunch just before the turn. On the return journey, Dykes and Copp broke away and finished in the above order. The result was as follows: —K. Woollett (45sec.), 1; B. Harman (1.45), 2; J. Brader (2.10), 3. Fastest time: K. Woollett 1, C. Dykes 2, L. Clark 3. After the race members were guests at afternoon tea provided by Mrs Graham, Second Street. Next week the opening of the Wellington Centre will take place, and the following local riders will make the trip:—Seniors: L. Clark, C. Dykes, K. Woollett, J. Brader and J. McAliece. Juniors: M. Graham, B. Dooling, B. Harman and R. Copp.
