MEETING OF MASTERTON ASSOCIATION. RAILWAY STOCK TO SOLWAY. The president, Mr P. R. Welch, occupied the chair at the monthly meeting of the Masterton A. and P. Association, held last night. There was a good attendance of members. Mr O. A. Cadwallader was appointed to represent the association at a meeting of the Wairarapa Boys’ and Girls’ Agricultural Clubs, to be held in Greytown next Tuesday night. The Kiatere Harrier Club was granted the use of the dressing rooms at the Showgrounds during the coming season. A donation of £1 was also received from the club. A letter of thanks for the use of the Showgrounds for the r/6ent sports gathering was received from the secretary of the Soldiers’ Club. A donation of £1 Is was forwarded in appreciation of the generosity of the association. A letter was received from the Railways Department advising that for future Shows stock could be carried by rail to Solway instead of having to be taken off at Masterton. The stock, however, would have to be consigned to Solway.Referring to the financial position of the association, the treasurer, Mr G. W. Sellar said: “It looks as though we will just about break even at the end of the year, which is very satisfactory.” It was decided to ask the Borough Council to seal one side of the footpath in York Street leading to the Showgrounds. The question of reforming the road leading to the Showgrounds from the corner of Fleet Street and York Street was left in the hands of the ground committee. A committee was appointed to recommend a date for the annual ball.
