HITLER’S SAFETY
» STRICT PRECAUTIONS TAKEN IN ITALY ELABORATE MEASURES ON CONTROL. FLOWER POTS REMOVED FROM BALCONIES. By Telegraph.—Press Association, Copyright. (Recd This Day, 11.35 a.m.) LONDON, April 28. The “Daily Telegraph’s” Rome correspondent says that as Chief of the Italian Public Security Department, Senator Bocchini is not taking chances on Herr Hitler’s safety in Rome. Many Jewish and other refugees who have arrived in Italy since 1935 have been told that it will be wise to keep clear of Rome, Naples and Florence until Herr Hitler has gone. Those who would not or could not take the hint are being placed under “precautionary arrest.” 'A system of passport control has been introduced/on the roads to Rome. Cars are halted outside the city and passports examined. Landlords and householders are warned that they will be responsible for the good behaviour of tenants. Flower pots must be removed from balconies and windows because they might fall on Herr Hitler’s head.
