PRISONERS SENTENCED
WELLINGTON SUPREME COURT. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) WELLINGTON, April 28. The following prisoners were sentenced today by Judge Reed: George Alfred James Bell (45), post office savings bank clerk, two charges of theft as a servant of the Government and five of forgery, two years’ hard labour. Leslie George Jacobs (33), painter, indecent assault charges, three years' hard labour. George Lassells Amies (17), was remanded for sentence on Monday on three charges of breaking and entering and theft. Judge Reed said that he had fully intended to send the boy to Borstal because he thought it necessary for him to be disciplined but after hearing counsel he would consider the matter further. Counsel had stated that the proceeds had gone to enable the boy to indulge in the hobby of radio making. He came of a good home and his parents had no reason to suspect him of any tendency towards the crimes committed.
