STOCK MARKET
EKETAHUNA CATTLE FAIR. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report having held their second cattle fair yesterday. The yarding fell short of the advertised numbers and we offered 490 odd head to a fair attendance of the local public and a few representatives from Manawatu and Hawke’s Bay. A good clearance was effected although at times the sale was inclined to drag. Weaner cattle of both sexes met with the best competition, top price steers being obtained for a pen 'offered on behalf of the S. .M. George Estate. Growing cattle were available only in small numbers and values for these were easier as compared with recent surrounding sales. Station cows r.w.b. met with a slightly improved market, best pens making up to £5. The bulk of the yarding was obtained by local buyers. The following will indicate prices:—A/c McKenna Estate, P.A. cows r.w.b., £5; a/c W. Edmonds, do £4 Is; a/c C. W. Gunderson, cows with calves at foot, £5; a/c J. Judd, empty P.A. cows £4 3s; a/c E.
