BADMINTON CLUB. (“Times-Age” Special) Although the Badminton Club will not officially open its season till Monday night, play commenced last evening. The season promises to be an interesting one for there is a good membership. All interested in the game are cordially invited on Monday night to watch the games and partake of supper. OBITUARY. The death occurred last week in Tiri hospital of Mr William Harris at the age of 63 years. Mr Harris had been' ill for a few days only. He leaves two daughters (Mesdames Higginson and Bishop) and one son (Mr Jack Harris), all of Martinborough. His wife predeceased him some years ago. The funeral, which took place at the new Cemetery, was a large one. Pallbearers were Messrs E. Cameron, J. Baghurst, L. Harris, C. R. Holmes, C. W. Skill, R. Malneek. GIFT AFTERNOON. Mrs R. Smith, junr’s, residence at Waihenga was the scene of a gift afternoon on Tuesday for Miss Eileen Hamilton, whose marriage to Mr Alen Todd will take place on Saturday. Musical items were given by Miss T. Taylor and Mrs J. Boyd. A dainty tea was served after which Miss Hamilton opened her parcels. She received many useful gifts. A posy was presented by little Mary Nicol to Miss Hamilton who was accorded musical honours.
