BOROUGH AND COUNTY NOMINATIONS
CONTESTS IN MASTERTON. THREE CANDIDATES STANDING FOR MAYORALTY. Nominations closed at noon today of candidates for the Masterton and Carterton mayoralties and borough councills, and the representatives of these bodies on the Wairarapa Hospital Board and the Wairarapa Power Board: the Mauriceville, Castlepoint and Eketahuna county councils and the representatives of these counties on the Hospital Board and in the case of Mauriceville and Eketahuna counties on the Tararua Power Board. Nominations also closed today for the Wairarapa district representatives on the Wellington Harbour Board. . Masterton apparently has the election complex this year and when the Municipal and other local body elections are held on May 11 there will be contests for the Mayoralty, Borough Council. District representation on the Wellington Harbour - Board and the Wairarapa Electric Power Board. ’ In the case of the Masterton borough representatives on the Hospital Board, a nomination came to hand from Mr J. C. Ewington, one of the sitting members but' as this did not comply with the required formalities it could not be accepted. His place is therefore taken by Mrs J. Robertson, as only three nominations were received for three vacancies. Mr Ewington has a notable record as a member of the board, having served for over 30 years.
