TRIBUTE TO HEROES

FLOWERS ON THE SYDNEY CENOTAPH. SYDNEY, April 26. Although it was next to impossible to obtain an unobstructed view yesterday of the wealth of magnificent wreaths and flowers covering the Cenotaph and the extra enclosures, it was much easier today to obtain a reasonable glimpse, although crowds are still filing past. An extremely large addition is a fine wreath from the Australian Government. There is an imposing floral tribute to the war heroes from the New Zealand ex-servicemen. Its height is at least five feet. It depicts an outline of New Zealand composed'of red poppies, in which the letters “N.Z.” in orange are inset in the centre of the North and South Islands. It is estimated that more than 2000 floral tributes were placed on or near the Cenotaph, including those of the New Zealand army sisters, New Zealand commercial travellers, and the New Zealand Trade Commissioner in Australia.
