Miss J. Grubner. of Mangatainoka. who had been on a holiday spent in Napier, has returned home. Mr and Mrs L. B. Maunsell, Opaki Road, Masterton, have been staying at Paraparaumu Beach.

Mrs F. Peterson, of Wellington, is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs J. Finlayson, Lansdowne.

Miss Guild, Cornwall Street, Masterton. has returned from a short visit to Wellington.

Mrs D. E. Parton, Christchurch, will arrive in Masterton today to stay with Miss Daniell, Albert Street. Miss Dora Moncrieff, of Wellington, revisited Carterton for Anzac Day, and was the guest of her mother. Mrs C. A. Moncrieff, Victoria Street. Mrs F. D. Stewart, of Wellington, who had been the guest of Mrs G. Dickel, Essex Street, has returned home.

Mrs A. Douglas has returned from the Bay of Islands and Whangripo, and is staying at the Empire Hotel, Masterton.

Mr and Mrs H. H. Daniell, The Terrace, Lansdowne, who have been visiting the South Island, have returned to Masterton.

Mr and Mrs Wilson, who have been staying with Mr and Mrs N. H. James, Pownall Street, Masterton, have returned to Auckland.

Miss Fay Compton and members of her company left Wellington last night by the Awatea for Sydney, en route to Brisbane.

The marriage took place in Masterton recently of Miss Hilda Vollheim, third daughter of Mr and Mrs C. Vollheim, Masterton, and Mr Sidney Kingston, second son of Mr and the late Mrs C. Kingston, also of Masterton.

Mrs E. C. Riddiford, Mr and Mrs Eric Riddiford, Mr and Mrs Jim Vogel, Mr and Mrs E. Bunny, the Misses Bunny, Mr and Mrs Warwick Blundell and Professor and Mrs von Zedlitz, are Wellington visitors to Featherston today for the wedding of Miss Phillipa Riddiford and Dr Morvyn Williams. A Press Association message from Oamaru states that the death occurred suddenly on Saturday at the closing ceremony of the Gardens Croquet Club, of Mrs W. J. Wylie, president of the Awamoa Croquet Club, and a prominent member of the North Otago Women’s Club. She was formerly Miss Frances Moss, and was born at Oamaru.

Miss Nelle M. Scanlan, the wellknown New Zealand author and journalist, intends to visit New Zealand for a holiday towards the end of the year. Miss Scanlan will sail from Liverpool for Capetown on August 13, whence she will travel overland to Johannesburg and Durban, spending 15 days in South Africa. She will sail from Durban on September 17, arriving in Sydney in October and at Wellington at the end of October or early in November.
