FEATHERSTON
GIFT EVENING. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr and Mrs J. W. Holland gave a gift evening at their home on Saturday night for Miss J. Humphries, of the staff of the Greytown Hospital, who is shortly to be married. Between 40 and 50 were present, and a very pleasant time was spent with dancing and games. Mr Holland, in a happy speech, called upon Miss Humphries to open the parcels. Mr Jamieson thanked those present for their gifts, and Mr and Mrs Holland for their hospitality. A dainty supper concluded a very enjoyable evening. SALE OF POPPIES. The sale of poppies in Featherston this year realised approximately £2B, as against £24 15s last year, and £1 less than the peak year, 1927. PERSONALS. Mr and Mrs S. W. Booth left by motor car on Monday for Gisborne, where they intend visiting relatives. Miss A. Cowan, who has been visiting Mrs Luke Smith, has returned to Dannevirke. Dr and Mrs G. S. Sharp and the two Miss Donalds were present at the silver wedding of Dr and Mrs Doctor, Wellington.
