Mr A. W. White has been re-elected chairman of the Pahiatua Fire Board. Mrs W. H. Purdue, of Pahiatua. has left on a visit to Sydney. Mrs J. Curtin and Miss Curtin, of Pahiatua, are on a holiday in the South Island. Mr F. Casey has been appointed chairman of the executive of the Dannevirke and Districts Returned Soldiers’ Association. Mr A. Falls, of Dargaville, and his daughter, Mrs Kennedy, are on a visit to Masterton. They are the guests of Mrs Burr, of Cornwall Street. Mr Falls was a former resident of Masterton. where he had a carrying business. The friends of Mi- J. F. Diggins, son of Mr and Mrs M. Diggins. Masterton. will be pleased to learn that he is making satisfactory progress from injuries he sustained through a fall at his house in Wellington on Saturday afternoon last. Mr A. R. Spurdie,. Wanganui, has been appointed conductor of the Queen Alexander Band. He was one of the foundation members of the Queen Alexandra Band and has had 32 years' experience in band work. The appointment follows the death of Captain F. Avery. D.C.M., Auckland, who was to have taken up duties in Wanganui in May.
