MEETING THIS WEEK. A reminder is given of the Dannevirke Racing Club's meeting to be held on Friday and Saturday next on the Woodville Club's course. The first race will start at 12.15 p.m. and keen and interesting races should be the order of the day. The fixture is a most popular one and invariably attracts bumper attendances.
AVONDALE RACES WIN FOR GAY ROSE. (By Telegraph —Press Association). AUCKLAND, April 23. Although showery weather marred the opening day of the Avondale Jockey Club’s autumn meeting, there was a good attendance, and keen racing. The course was holding. The totalisator investments were £34,463 10s, against £37,837 last year, a decrease of £3,373 10s. Following the running of the Avondale Hurdles, the committee disqualified R. R. Savage, jockey of Celtic Lad, for six months, for not riding out his mount under Rule 282. The owner, Mr H. R. Clarke, was not present, and will be asked to appear before the committee on Wednesday. GREYMOUTH MEETING PRESIDENT’S TO MONIPERE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. GREYMOUTH, April 23. The Greymouth Jockey Club’s second autumn meeting was held today in fine and sunny weather. The track was yielding but drying quickly. Totalisator investments were £5366. against £6324 10s last year, a decrease of £958 10s. The total for the two meetings was £10,299 10s, £11,768 10s, a decrease of £1469. Results: — Trial Handicap, six furlongs.—3 Potistina, 8.9 (A. Messervy), 1; 5 Queen Linda, 8.2, 2; 4 Patuma, 8.0, 3.
