STIRRING CHAMPIONSHIP CONTESTS. (By Telegraph-—Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH. April 23. The inter-Dominion trotting championship was advanced a stage further at Addington today. A light drizzle was experienced in the early part of the morning, but it cleared away before the first race started. The three heats of the second qualifying event for the championship were run off without accident and provided most stirring ccontests. Supertax registered a very meritorious victory and Lucky Jack and Parisienne also won their heats in brilliant style. It has now been decided to continue the championship on Tuesday and Saturday. At the conclusion of the second day’s racing the position in the championship stands as follows: —Supertax, 17 points; Parisienne, 17; Lucky Jack, 8J; Plutus, 84; Blair Athol, 5; Evicus, 3J; Pot Luck, 24; Joy’s John, 24; Nervie’s Last, 21; King’s Play, 2; Lady Childewood, 1; King’s Warrior, 1; Double Great, 1. The . totalisator investments were £45, 10s. The second day of last year’s meeting was held on a Wednesday, when £38,872 was invested. The results were as follow: — Mascot Handicap, for unhoppled trotters, 4.47 class; two miles. —5/6 Aristotle (R. Motz), 1; 3/3 Parrish Guide, 2; 7/7 Guy Hugo, 3. Also started, 9/10 Honeymoon, 10/8 Indolent, 11/12 King Franz, 4/4 Prince Harvester, 3/9 Survivor, 6/5 Mute, 2/2 Pilot Peter, 1/1 Walter Wrack, 12/11 Tan John. Length and a quarter; four lengths.
