METHODIST CHURCH

' LADIES' GUILD ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Methodist Ladies' Guild was held in the Methodist Schoolroom yesterday afternoon. The hall was beautifully decorated for the occasion by Miss V. Jackson. Mrs N. H. Prior presided over a large attendance of members. A welcome to the guild was extended to the Rev F. J. Parker and Mrs Parker by Mrs Prior, who assured them of the loyal support of members. Mr Parker acknowledged the welcome. The treasurer, Mrs J. H. Handyside reported on the result of the recent garden party, which had been very successful. The guild voted £l5 of the proceeds of the garden party to the auxiliary.

The secretary, Mrs W. H. Judd read the report of the guild's work during the year and the treasurer. Mrs Handyside gave a financial survey, which showed the guild to be in a good financial position. After donating £6O to the trustees and paying expenses in connection with the Parsonage, there was a credit balance of £42 2s lOd. A vote of appreciation was accorded the secretary, Mrs Judd and the treasurer, Mrs Handyside, for their splendid work during the year. Mr Parker congratulated the guild on its year's work and thanked the members for the way in which they had helped the Church. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Chairman, the Rev F. J. Parker: president. JVlrs J. H. Handyside: vice-presidents. Mesdames Cocker. Elliott. White. Iveson, Wilden, Thomas. F. Daniell, and Prior: secretary. Miss V. Jackson; social committee. Mesdames Prior. Handyside, Thomas. Madsen. Saunders. Hancox. Shoosmith. Watson and Judd (convenor), and Miss V. Jackson. Enjoyable items were contributed by Mesdames Watson and Gordon Milne and Miss D. O'Donnell, and afternoon tea was served by the committee.
